Vocabulary Words (part 1)

     Hello! One of my friends is really into using unique words. You could even call her a lexophile. Anyways, I'm starting this series because while I'm not a lexophile myself, I still find it fascinating how words can have specific meanings. I've listed some words below:



  1. Sophrosyne - (n.) A healthy state of mind, characterized by self-control, moderation, and a deep awareness of one's true self, resulting in true happiness
  2. Weltschmerz - (n.) Mental apathy caused by comparison of the actual state of the world with an ideal state
                            (n.) A mood of sentimental sadness
    1. Serendipity - (n.) Finding something good without looking for it
    2. Ephemeral - (adj.) Lasting a very short time
                           (adj.) Anything short-lived
    3. Egalitarianism - (n.) The doctrine that all people are equal and deserve equal rights and opportunities

      This is like Schoenfeld's Lexicon Words all over again, except this time, it's someone wasting time to neatly print words.
