Hello, fellow humans. I've been wanting to do a review of a Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen for a long time now, and as fate has it, I've received a pack of 3 for my birthday!
The pens came with a hard tip, a soft tip, and a dual tip. The dual tip has two colors: gray and black.

From left to right: the hard tip, soft tip, and dual tip. |
I found that writing with the hard tip was easiest, because it required less control and precision. I would recommend the soft tip for advanced brush letterers, because it's harder to control the ink flow. The hard tip gave thinner upstrokes and bolder downstrokes, while the soft tip was more flexible. The dual tip was best for making a shadow effect using the gray side.

My demo of the three pens. |
The pens came individually wrapped, and each included a ruler. However...the rulers are all in Japanese, and I can't read them at all. So now, I'm stuck with three rulers in a language I don't know. At least they work well as rulers.

Move over Three Little Pigs, here are the Three Japanese Rulers. |
All in all, I thoroughly enjoy the Tombow Fudenosuke brush pens. The ink flow is consistent, and the pens are wonderful for beginners. They write very smoothly, and are great for titles, headers, or projects. One downside is that the pens show through on printer paper. Thick paper, such as sketchbook paper, would be better for writing with the pens. The reason I gave 8 of 10 stars for the pens was because I haven't tried many other pens, and I want to give a fair comparison. I really look forward to using these in the future.
Tho's Rating: 8/10 stars
Thanks for reading!
Very surprised you don't know Japanese.
ReplyDelete(And three pens for your birthday seems rather frugal.)
